Miramax
closed their doors today after rumors have been swirling for awhile that the studio was going under.
80 people will lose their jobs and 6 movies are awaiting distribution that will probably never come.
Back in October the Disney-owned studio said that Miramax would be reducing the number of films they release annually to consolidate operations which was a strong indicator that it wasn't heading in a good
direction.
Harvey Weinsten said of Miramax:
"I'm feeling very nostalgic right now. I know the movies made on my and my brother Bob's watch will live on as well as the fantastic films made under the direction of Daniel Battsek.
Miramax has some brilliant people working within the organization and I know they will go on to do great things in the industry."
Sad.
